Gaming Policy Statement

The Shellharbour Club has implemented a Gaming Plan of Management allowing patrons and staff to understand the Club’s responsible conduct of gaming obligations.

The Shellharbour Club is committed to:

  • Ensuring the provision and use of gaming products occurs in a safe and enjoyable manner;
  • Prioritising customer welfare and sustainable gambling activities;
  • Adopting responsible gambling and harm minimization measures in accordance with the Gaming Plan of Management and harm minimization legislation;
  • Promoting the social and economic benefits of responsible gambling and the gaming industry;
  • Allocating a Senior Responsible Gambling Officer and back-up.
  • Maintaining Responsible Gambling Officers and providing them with the necessary training to complete their roles and responsibilities.

Counselling Services

Patrons of The Shellharbour Club have the full access to Gamble Aware Illawarra & Southern NSW via Mission Australia Wollongong.

The Gambling Aware service in Illawarra and Southern NSW provides free, confidential, non-judgmental counselling support for individuals and families, and community members who are concerned about their own or others’ gambling.

There is no limit on the number of sessions available for people who need help. Support is provided face-to-face, or via telephone.

Player Activity Statements

The Shellharbour Club makes available all requests from members relating to their monthly gaming machine activity and can provide a free player activity statement upon request in person at Reception. Due to privacy, the request can only come from the member in person and the member must show suitable identification when requesting this information.

 

Self Exclusion

The Shellharbour Club has self-exclusion schemes in place that can be used if you think you have a problem with liquor or gambling. The schemes are voluntary and are for the benefit of patrons who wish to be prevented from entering the club or areas of the club for the purpose of assisting them to control their liquor consumption or gambling.

CLUB SAFE PROGRAM

Self-exclusion is a voluntary self-help program designed to offer anyone the ability to ban themselves from gaming areas in order to take control of their gambling habits. The Shellharbour Club subscribes to the Premium Club Safe package annually which incorporates the following support to our patrons:

  • Advice and support on the Multi Venue Self-Exclusion Program;
  • 24- hour support, counselling and referral line for all matters self-exclusion;
  • Support to family members of problem gamblers; and
  • Support for non-English speaking patrons;

Training

The Shellharbour Club ensures all staff and key stakeholders are appropriately trained in line with legislation and the Gaming Plan of Management. This training includes:

  • Responsible Gambling Boards Oversight Training
  • Responsible Gambling Officer Training
  • Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling Training
  • Responsible Conduct of Gambling Training
  • Responsible Gambling Staff Induction Training
  • Ongoing Refresher Training

In addition to this training, The Shellharbour Club sends a representative to attend all locally held Club and counselling service provider forums organised by ClubsNSW or the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling and is an active supporter of the Gamble Aware Week hosting training sessions, workshops, roundtables and panel discussions.
